How this site is made
Who publishes Torch & Anvil, how its tools and guides are made, and how the numbers in them are checked.
Who publishes it
Torch & Anvil is published under its own name by an independent publisher and maintained by one person. It is a fan-made project with no connection to Mojang or Microsoft, and no page is paid for by anyone it mentions.
Editor
C. B. Zakarian (a pen name) is the owner and editor of Torch & Anvil. C. B. Zakarian holds a Ph.D. in Information Systems, with a focus on data science, from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (2016), and is an assistant professor.
Since October 6, 2026, every new piece on Torch & Anvil is read and approved by C. B. Zakarian before it is published. Pages published earlier are being reviewed in weekly batches, and each reviewed page shows the date of its review.
How the tools and guides are made
The calculators, the guides and the tests behind them are produced under the owner’s direction. The owner decides what is published and when.
Until September 25, 2026 the About page said the site was written by one person, a Minecraft player. That line was inaccurate and was corrected that day. No page describes anyone’s own play.
How the numbers are checked
- A contract for every calculator. Each calculator’s math lives in one JavaScript file with the algorithm written out in a comment at the top. A separate test re-implements the math from that comment rather than from the code and asserts every figure the pages print; nothing ships while a page and its math disagree.
- Game facts are sourced. Game constants are checked against the community-maintained Minecraft Wiki at minecraft.wiki, and each guide names the source for its constants.
- Version stamps. Every tool carries a stamp naming the game version its facts were last verified against and the date of that check.
- Refusals are printed. Where a claim could not be verified cleanly, the tool or guide leaves it out and says so on the page.
Advertising and contact
Torch & Anvil shows no advertising today and no advertising code loads on any page; the privacy policy describes what would change if that changes. Corrections and questions go to contact@torchandanvil.com.
