Minecraft Villager Trade Calculator

Beat a raid and every villager in the village cuts you a deal. This tool computes that deal exactly — the Hero of the Village ladder from 30% to 55% with the real floor-and-minimum rounding — and is honest about the two discounts it will not fake: cures and demand.
The worked example
A librarian sells a good enchanted book for 20 emeralds. With Hero of the Village III the discount rate is 30% + 2 × 6.25% = 42.5%, and floor(20 × 0.425) = 8 emeralds off: you pay 12. At level V the same book is 9. The rounding matters at the bottom of the ladder — a 2-emerald trade at level I computes floor(0.6) = 0, which the game bumps to the minimum discount of 1, and since prices floor at 1 emerald, cheap trades hit their best price early: a 4-emerald trade already costs 2 at level V and can fall no further.
The ladder
| Hero level | Discount rate | 20-emerald trade becomes |
|---|---|---|
| I | 30% | 14 |
| II | 36.25% | 13 |
| III | 42.5% | 12 |
| IV | 48.75% | 11 |
| V | 55% | 9 |
Formula verified against the Minecraft Wiki's trading documentation; every ladder cell is recomputed from the discount percentages stated there and asserted in our test suite. The trading guide covers cures, demand, and the profession shortlist.
Questions builders actually ask
How big is the Hero of the Village discount?
30 percent of the base price at level I, plus 6.25 percent per level above it: 36.25, 42.5, 48.75, and 55 percent at level V. The emeralds off are rounded down but always at least 1, and the price you pay never drops below 1 emerald.
Why does this tool not compute the zombie-cure discount?
Because the exact gossip-to-emerald conversion is not documented cleanly enough to compute honestly. What is verified: a cure grants a large permanent discount with that villager, and since Java 1.20.2 re-curing the same villager no longer stacks the discount — Mojang closed that as a bug (MC-181190). We state the mechanics and refuse to invent the arithmetic.
Do the cure discount and Hero of the Village stack?
Yes — they are separate systems and both come off the same trade: the cure discount is a permanent reputation with one villager, while Hero of the Village is a timed status effect from beating a raid that applies on top while it lasts.
Why did a villager's price go up?
Demand. Buying the same trade repeatedly raises its price for a while — the game tracks demand per trade and adds a surcharge proportional to it after restocks. The per-item multipliers behind that surcharge are not uniformly documented, so this tool explains the mechanic rather than computing it; leave the trade alone through a restock or two and the price falls back.
