Enchanting, brewing and beacons

Minecraft Brewing Planner

Choose the potion you want and read the brews in order — base, ingredient, corruption if the target needs one, then the modifiers. Sixteen brewed potions and the three corruption-only ones, all verified against the Minecraft Wiki's brewing documentation, which the guide names.

The worked example

A lingering Potion of Harming II, built from Healing, takes six brews: nether wart into a water bottle for the awkward base, glistering melon slice for Healing, fermented spider eye to corrupt it to Harming, glowstone for level II, gunpowder for splash, dragon's breath for lingering. The planner prints exactly that chain — and its logic is asserted step for step in our test suite, including the rule that glowstone and redstone cannot both apply.

Questions brewers actually ask

What is the base for almost every potion?

Water bottle plus nether wart, which brews the awkward potion. Every effect potion in the planner builds on that base except Weakness, the one recipe that skips it: fermented spider eye straight onto a water bottle.

How do you brew Slowness, Harming, or Invisibility?

Only by corruption. Add a fermented spider eye to a finished potion: Swiftness or Leaping turns into Slowness, Healing or Poison turns into Harming, and Night Vision turns into Invisibility. There is no direct ingredient for any of the three.

Can every potion be extended or upgraded?

No. Redstone extends duration and glowstone raises the level, but the four trial-chamber potions — Wind Charging, Oozing, Weaving, and Infestation — take neither, and several older potions lack one form or the other. The brewing stand simply refuses combinations that do not exist.

How do splash and lingering versions work?

Gunpowder turns any potion into its splash version, and dragon's breath turns a splash potion into a lingering one, in that order. The planner appends both steps when you ask for them. Every brew also consumes blaze powder as the stand's fuel.
